Fundamental Point Geodetic Reference System
graphic20.02.2012
(Fundamental Station)
the geometric origin of a geodetic network and coordinate reference system.
In "traditional" geodesy, a geodetic network was built ub by one fundamental point with its precise determination of astronomical position and with astronomical reference direction(s) (Laplace azimuth).
The funamental Point often also gives the name of the geodetic datum.
In modern geodesy, a network is built up by a system of fundamental stations
